What is C2P?
The Convergence To Pixels (C2P) Integration Framework collects metadata from IP devices and sends the metadata to Nx Witness. The metadata is then synchronized with the surveillance footage stored in Nx Witness and indexed to be searched via the C2P Hypermedia Search Engine. All the search results (text and alert events/information) are hyperlinked to the Nx archive related to the specific event.
The C2P Integration Framework seamlessly integrates as a web page in the Nx Witness Desktop client. Users can simply add it to a layout and connect it to their cloud-based instance of C2P.
Some IP enabled devices that can integrate with C2P and Nx Witness:
- POS
- RFID
- Access Control
- LPR
- ATM
- Weigh Scales
- Bar Code Readers
- Biometrics Security
- PLC Controllers
I. C2P Installation
The C2P base software should be installed on the same server as Nx Witness, and the local C2P proxy software should be installed on the specific IP device that you want to integrate with Nx Witness. Configure C2P on each server via the C2P interface.
NOTE 1: Please read the C2P user manual for detailed instructions. Additionally, the configuration will vary if Nx Witness and C2P are not installed on the same server.
NOTE 2: Currently the only supported operating system for C2P is Windows. Please check with C2P for the supported versions.
II. Nx Desktop Client Configuration
- Create the Virtual Cameras used in the C2P integration.
a. Add a camera in Nx Desktop by using the IP address of the machine hosting the C2P Proxy installer that was installed in Step 1. The format for the camera URL is http://{IP address}:89/pushport{x}
b. Where “x” is a unique number from 1 to 25 for each Virtual Camera.
Example: http://192.168.1.16:89/pushport1
c. Users can assign any names for these cameras they like but C2P recommends using 3 Virtual cameras (CTP Overview1, CTP Camera2, and Procedure) as the default camera names when configuring C2P for the first time, as these camera names are the default camera names used by the C2P simulator provided in all C2P Proxy Installers.
- In this case, CTP Overview1 would be assigned pushport1, CTP Camera2 would use pushport2, and Procedure would use pushport3.
a. Add a Web page in Nx Desktop by using the URL provided for your cloud instance.
b. The syntax for this URL looks as follows: {Insert URL}:8991
Note: When creating the C2P web page in the Nx Witness Desktop client, be sure to check the box This web page is for C2P integration when adding the C2P cloud instance URL.
- Test that the C2P web page is able to connect to your C2P cloud instance by double-clicking the C2P web page name in Nx Desktop.
a. The default username and password to log in to the cloud instance is admin and Password1.
III. Testing the Integration Using the C2P Simulator
- Run the simulator found in the C2P Proxy GUI to verify the integration.
- Confirm that the C2P virtual camera CTP Camera2 is receiving live data from the simulator and that same data is also being stored in the C2P web portal in Nx Desktop.
- Once the simulator verification is complete, the integration is ready to receive data from the actual IP Device or IP Device application.
