Users can now designate a specific device as the audio provider or assign a device to play audio tracks, making it possible to seamlessly stream audio from one camera to another.
These audio settings apply to both live streams and archived recordings. Please note that this update does not impact existing Event Rules; for instance, the "play sound" action will continue to use the currently selected audio output device.
Configure Audio Video mapping
- Right-click on a camera and open > Camera Settings > General.
- To use the audio from another device (Audio input/ the audio source):
a. Check the Enable audio option
b. Select a camera from the drop-down.
Note: Even if the current camera has no audio input capability, you could still pull the audio source from another device. - To transmit the audio to another device (Audio output/audio destination):
a. Check the Enable 2-way audio option
b. Select a camera from the drop-down.
Note: 2-way audio option is now available for all devices with or without the function. - Apply changes
Note: A camera could be the audio source or audio destination for multiple cameras at the same time, but selecting multiple audio sources or audio destinations for one camera is not supported.
Why is there no audio source that could be selected / why is the option grayed out entirely?
There’s a chance that no device that is capable of audio input/output is available in your System. Additionally, please be aware that the audio source drop-down only allows devices from the same server to be selected.
Known Limitations
The audio/video mapping enhances the flexibility and user experience of Nx Witness a lot, but there are some limitations that should be taken into consideration:
- The Audio/video mapping feature cannot be used with virtual cameras.
- The Audio source can only be used for devices on the same server.
