This article describes how to automatically enable the information overlay on video items in Desktop client (for both Windows and Ubuntu platforms).
If enabled, all video items within the client will open up with the Info button enabled by default and thus showing the Camera name and the information box by default.
There are two configuration parameters to control the behavior of this option:
Parameter name |
Default value |
Description |
showFullInfo |
false |
If True: Client will overlay an info box in the bottom left corner providing resolution, fps, and codec information for every video item with the Info button enabled. |
showInfoByDefault |
false |
If True: Client will make every new video item added to the layout have the Info button enabled. |
NOTE: Enabling these options will significantly affect the graphical performance of the Nx Witness Client application and will slow down the rendering of visuals.
For Windows
- Close the Desktop client
- Open the regedit.exe application
- Go to:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Network Optix\Network Optix HD Witness Client
- Find the showFullInfo (or showInfoByDefault) key and select it. In the Value data field, type true
- Select OK to save the updated value.
- If necessary, repeat steps 3-4 for the showInfoByDefault parameter.
- Close the regedit.exe program.
- Start the Desktop client.
For Ubuntu
- Close the Desktop client.
- Open the following file with your desired editor:
~/.config/Network Optix/Network Optix HD Witness Client.conf
- Find the string showFullInfo. Change the value to “true”.
- If necessary, repeat steps 3-4 for the showInfoByDefault parameter.
- Save the file and close the text editor.
- Start the Desktop client.
