What is the issue?
Starting with version 6.2, the VMS now enables Object Analysis for Axis cameras by default. Combined with Axis OS 9.5+, which also enables object tracking by default, this has led to some devices intermittently switching between online and offline states.
This behavior appears to primarily affect multi-sensor Axis devices, while single-sensor models seem to remain unaffected.
What is the cause of the issue?
Axis engineers suspect that the multi-sensor devices may be experiencing overload, as the VMS is requesting events from all sensors simultaneously over a single processing chip. They believe this may be creating a performance bottleneck.
What is the short term solution?
In the short term, it’s recommended to disable the Metadata configuration. These settings can be accessed through the camera’s web interface, though their exact location may vary slightly depending on the device model.

What is the long term solution?
Our Support and Integrations teams are actively communicating with Axis regarding this issue, and we hope it will be resolved in an upcoming Axis firmware update.
