About supported cameras
AnsweredCurrently, we are selecting cameras to propose to our customers.
Therefore, I would like to inquire whether the following cameras are supported by Nx Witness (Desktop and Server).
Sorry to trouble you, but please teach us.
- AXIS P1290-E Thermal Network Camera
- AXIS FA4090-E Thermal Sensor Unit
- AXIS Q8641-E PT Thermal Network Camera
- AXIS Q8642-E PT Thermal Network Camera
- AXIS Q8752-E Bispectral PTZ Camera
- AXIS Q19 Thermal Network Camera Series
- AXIS Q29 Thermal Network Camera Series
I looked up the model number of the camera from the following site, but the top 4 in the camera list below did not hit the search.
https://nxvms.com/ipvd?vendors=Axis
Can you check if these cameras are compatible?

Hi @...,
Please refer to this support ARTICLE for how does the Nx Witness supports camera brands, and the mechanism of the IPVD.
Nx Witness supports Axis by VAPIX3, and also supports ONVIF Profile S, if the camera supports either VAPIX or the same ONVIF profile, then Nx Witness should work with the camera.
I check the spec of the cameras you mention and here are the result:
- AXIS P1290-E Thermal Network Camera: Support VAPIX and ONVIF Profile S.
- AXIS FA4090-E Thermal Sensor Unit: Does not mention any connection protocol. It seems this device is a sensor, please check the spec and the supports function with the Axis.
- AXIS Q8641-E PT Thermal Network Camera: Support VAPIX and ONVIF Profile S.
- AXIS Q8642-E PT Thermal Network Camera: Support VAPIX and ONVIF Profile S.
- AXIS Q8752-E Bispectral PTZ Camera: Support VAPIX and ONVIF Profile S.
If the camera does not support VAPIX3 nor ONVIF, but with RTSP or HTTP stream, you could add the camera stream to Nx Witness as well.
Thank you.
