Both Microsoft and Google offer popular email services. To use these services for outgoing email settings, an App password is required for sign-in and authentication. Before you can use your Microsoft or Google account for this purpose, you must set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
How to enable 2FA
- Google: Turn on 2-Step Verification
- Microsoft: How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account
How to generate an App password:
- Google: Sign in with app passwords
- Microsoft: How to get and use app passwords
Where to apply the App password
When you navigate to the System Administration menu and select the Email tab, enter all the required information according to the in-client manual, except for the password. Instead of using your regular email password, use the App password that was generated. Once all the information is entered, click the Check button to confirm a successful setup.
Additional Support
If you encounter any difficulties setting up 2-Step Verification or App passwords for your Google or Microsoft account, please contact your system administrator who manages these services in your working environment.
