I haven't done Dahua for a while, but they used to have a firmware bug whereby, regardless of the web interface password, the onvif user:password was always
    admin:admin

That is possible, I will test that next time around it it happens again. I fixed the cameras by turning off the onvif authentication, they would come back, then after a while I turned the onvif auth back on and so far they seem to stay authenticated. It's weird though as these cameras as working fine and all of the sudden they did not want to authenticate anymore...

    Hi Kjetil Gautestad,

Could you please share the camera's model and firmware version with us?
We have fixed one issue that may lead Dahua's camera(with newer firmware) to reject the authentication. However, I'm not sure if it is your case. Is it possible to share the Wireshark packet that collects while the issue happens? Or it would be great to have the camera HTTP/RTSP port forwarding. So that we could test it on our end and check what's wrong there.

    Thank you.

    Hi Wendy.

We just have the majority of our 120 cameras drop the authentication. The only way I could quickly get them back up again was to disable the onvif authentication, which is not idea.

Majority of cameras are Dahua IPC-HDW3549TM-AS-LED. With firmware 2.800.0000000.39.R, Build Date 2022-07-26

As I had to circumvent the issue with disabling the onvif auth, I do not see the issue at the moment, so not sure if a packet capture would be helpful.

I've setup a couple of test camera and I'm happy to give you access to them if that can help resolve the issue. Would prefer not to post details here, so is there an email address I can use?

    Hi Kjetil Gautestad,

Yes, disabling ONVIF auth is not a good idea - It could be a temporary workaround only. Unless this is the camera's issue which Andrew Sharrem shared. I'll create a ticket for you later and you could pass the sensitive info by replying to the mail directly.

    Appreciate your cooperation :-)

The camera provide the incorrect timestamp, causing the authorisation token becomes invalid.
It could be circumvented by setting the timezone in the camera the same as for the server. The issue was reported to the Dahua team.

I've seen and diagnosed this exact issue, changing the admin password on the camera does not update the ONVIF admin credentials. you need to:

Log into the cameras web interface

Navigate to Settings > System > Account > Onvif User tab

    Tick the checkbox Modify Password

Select Admin Account from the dropdown control

Type in the current admin password in all 3 password boxes and click save

I have the same issue with 13 Dahua Cameras (IPC-HDBW2531E-S-S2, 2.820.0000000.48.R, Build Date 2022-06-14). They were working fine since 2-3 months and then suddenly 'Unauthorised' is displayed in NXWitness.

I tried all the following actions without success:

    - Creating a new user different from admin, with or without onvif

    - Deleting the camera from the server and adding it back (I can't add it)

    - Switching the camera settings system > Safety > Private Protocol Auth.. to "Compatible Mode"

    - Upgrading from NXServer 5.0.0.35745 on Ubuntu 20 to latest 36634

    - Moving the camera from a separate VLAN to the same VLAN as the server...

    - Performing the steps described above...

I just got the approval from a client to migrate 70 (Dahua) cameras to NX but I have some doubts now...

These cameras were running on a vendor provided demo license that expired.

    Hi Adam Anderson and Gautier,

Disabling the DST time and setting a timezone identical to the server time(zone) should work around the issue. The issue has been reported to the Dahua team, and they are working on a solution.

Thanks for your feedback, I did recover the camera views by disabling DST setting on the camera and keeping the same timezone. There is still a one hour offset between the server and the camera (due to summer time currently in CET).

The issue is now that the camera displays an incorrect time on its burned-in time stamp (which is requested to be displayed).

Would there be any possibility to have correct time displayed, and following DST changes ? Maybe through the use of 'Keep Camera Time Setting' option ?

The only way around that we found was to set the timezome to one that matches the current DST time. Which means you have to change timezone twice a year. It's been a few months since we tried to get them to fix it and no fix yet.

    Has this issue been address?

Both the ONVIF credentials and time zone doesn't seem to resolve anything.
Only way to get it back online is to re-add the camera back the NX, so I assume there's still some sort of communication barrier between the 2.

    Hi Kevin Chen,

I'm not sure whether you are facing the same problem as this topic. The only variable, in this topic, is the DST option of the Dahua camera. Dahua starts to accept the authentication after turning off the DST and we couldn't know the reason.
I'm afraid that the issue still needs to be escalated to the manufacturer.

Kjetil Gautestad Thanks for sharing the information here :-)

    Hi Norman - Nx Support

Please can you give an update on this issue.  Do you have a case number at Dahua that we can all contact them and hassle them about to get this fixed also?

    Thanks

I had a response back from NX and it looks like they know about the issue and it's not at their end. I would raise it with Dahua and get them to fix it. I need to reach out to our supplier and get them to contact dahua on our behalf as they are hard to get in contact with directly.

Update: Dahua seems to have put out new firmware that fixes this issue. I have deployed it out to the 150+ cameras and it seems to be working at this point.
