    Hi amir yifrach,

Have you checked if the licenses are still valid? As sometimes the Windows update will break the consistency of the system information which might cause the recording stop.

    Hi amir yifrach,

Have you confirmed the system works now in Nx Witness 5.0.0?

Can you update the system to the latest v5.0.0?

    Thanks.

we are using version 5.0 and still happens. We only find out when something has happened and client needs footage only to find out cameras have stopped recording. How about you fix it so that when windows does an update it DOESNT break the cameras recording. That would be magical because blaming it on windows is like blaming the government for someone stealing your wallet because you left it on the street. It's even happening on Linux now which was the OS less prone to stupid update problems like Windows is.

    Hi Kris Hogh,

I am not sure what your issue is at the moment.
Do you see the license lost or not recording or others?

    - For Windows update, it is likely the WMI repository is broken.
You may use a script to re-construct the WMI repository.
For this Windows-Update specific issue, there is no solution from application level, but needs to recover it from the OS level. So if your case is on Windows, maybe this is something you can check after every Windows updates.

    - If your case is Linux, that would be a different story. Do you have any specific site has the issue and can be reproduced the issue with a fixed set of procedure or steps?

Usually, the Linux OS does not have such issue and we have not heard about this, so if possible, please help to provide more detail on what you have found on Linux, such as you have hardware change, insert an external NIC...etc.

    Thanks.

yes there are licensing issues, I have licenses but sometimes the show is needing licenses even though I have enough and they are all assigned. Yes I have one not working right now on Linux.

As for Windows checking everytime after Windows updates makes me want to try another product. That's a poor way of designing a product, how can Windows break it that much??  Why can't you put something in the product to fix itself instead of relying on the end user of your product to fix your product?

    Hi Kris Hogh,

    Thanks for the suggestions.

However, we can't predict if the Windows Update will break the WMI repository/service or not, this has been a known issue on Windows for ages. Sometimes the issue might be coming up with a "Windows patch".

To so called "fix the broken", it is likely the only way is to remove the Windows patch. But I don't think that is fine for an application to uninstall a Windows patch. Hope you can understand we are not able to manipulate your OS(we should not either).

For some other WMI detail, you can find the sample from MS community.

These are all good points but try explaining that to a customer who had a break-in but can't get any footage because the cameras were recording on their expensive-compared-to-everything-else CCTV system. I get that some bugs are caused by external factors but we've experienced every bug since the release of version 5. It's been the most devastating experience and we hinge our livelihoods on this product and we're forever explaining to customers why their system has so many bugs all of a sudden. It's been a disastrous update in my opinion.
