Create a VMS package for QNAP NAS units (linux, intel cpu, storage, it's all ready)
AnsweredQNAP makes a line of very good NAS devices that feature Intel chipsets (celeron, i5's and i7s). The devices run linux, and are freely available to develop for. Think about it, a NAS is always on, has plenty of storage, sufficient RAM, and now has plenty of Intel x86 CPU power to operate.
You guys already have a GREAT linux version that requires very very little cpu power... it would probably be a matter of minutes for your developers to make an install package compatible with the device.
This would open up a large market of small to medium businesses and home users for virtually no development effort. The existing NVR solution they provide as a download option is not very good at all when it comes to remote connectivity, reviewing stored video, etc.

"Matter of minutes" is a bit hyperbolic. ;-) We don't just slap stuff together. Every version of Nx Witness goes through 12-16 weeks of testing before release to flush out bugs. That being said - we have a very interesting ARM based product coming out shortly which we think will be compelling for the SMB market.

Hi @...,
I realize this is an old question - but those features are now an part of Nx Witness. You can set up an experimental Docker instance on your NAS. Another common practice is to run the Nx Witness mediaserver application on a Raspberri Pi and add your NAS as external storage.
