Understanding Linux Package Versioning
CompletedHi,
I am using Linux ARM64 version of Nx Witness Server.
The deb package information (control file) of v5.0.0.35270 and v5.0.0.35745 are as follows and are indistinguishable.
Package: networkoptix-mediaserver
Version: 5.0.0
Can you make the packages distinguishable in future releases, for example by including the build number in the version?

Hi Daiki Kato,
Thanks for your feedback.
If you would like to check the version, you may check it at "/opt/networkoptix/mediaserver/build_info.txt"cat /opt/networkoptix/mediaserver/build_info.txt

Hi Ichiro,
Thank you for information.
However, when updating with the "apt upgrade" command, it is necessary to distinguish by the version of the deb package. It's useful to be able to distinguish between them.
It would be helpful if you could consider this. -
Hi Kato-san,
Nx Witness's update is suggested be done either using in-Client upgrade if possible. Or you may use the offline update with Zipped file. You may find detail from this article.
The build number is mainly for internally use, that being said, the main version would be 4.2.0, 4.2.1, 5.0.0 or 5.1.0..etc. At the moment, we might not have plan for this request, but will consider if the presentation of versioning could be improved from some points of view in the future.
Thanks for your suggestion.
