Nx Maps Advanced provides real-time tracking and metadata visualization for organizations that need deep operational insights.
Upgrading to Nx Maps Advanced unlocks the following features:
- Live device position sync: Device positions update in real time instead of only when you refresh the page. This is critical for deployments with moving assets, such as vehicles.
- Object display mode: Nx Maps Advanced pulls AI detection metadata from calibrated devices and renders detected objects—along with their position and attributes—directly on the map.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you meet the following requirements:
- You have sufficient Maps Advanced Services assigned to your organization.
- You have already added your cameras to the Maps application. For instructions, see Add cameras to Nx Maps.
How to enable cameras for object detection in Maps
To display objects on the map, you must calibrate your cameras by placing markers.
- Open the Edit Map interface.
- Select the camera you want to calibrate.
- Click the Tracking icon in the bottom-right corner. A new window opens showing both the map and the live camera view.
-
Place a marker on the map, then place a corresponding marker on the camera view at the exact same location.
Note: You can also do this in reverse: place a marker on the camera view first, then place the corresponding marker on the map. - Repeat this process to place at least 3 markers (maximum of 20 markers). More markers improve tracking accuracy.
- Click Calculate to calibrate the markers. You can adjust these markers at any time, but you must click Calculate again after making changes.
- Click Save and you return the Maps Dasboard
- Click Save to apply all changes to the applicable Map.
When you open the Maps view, the Show/Hide Objects icon appears in the right-side icon panel. Turn this setting on to display detected objects on the map. If a mobile device shares coordinates in its metadata, the camera icon moves across the map to match those coordinates.
When you select an object on the map, its metadata appears in the details panel.
If multiple objects are close to each other, they merge into a single cluster icon depending on your zoom level. An indicator at the bottom-center of the map displays the density of these clustered objects:
- Number: Displays the exact count of merged objects inside the cluster.
- Color: Changes from green to red to visually indicate low-to-high object density.
Known limitation
The system does not currently display the active count of used Maps Advanced Services, meaning the license count remains at 0 (zero). This issue is purely visual and does not affect the functionality of Nx Maps Advanced. A fix for this issue is planned for an upcoming major release.
