Nx Witness on OpenMediaVault?

    Hi Jeff Jones,

    Since OpenMediaVault is based on Debian, there is a fair chance Nx initially will work, but also, Nx relies on Ubuntu, which has different drivers and daemons running and sooner or later compatibility issues might occur, and therefore we wouldn't recommend it for a production system. Also, we do not offer support for anything else than the OS version we listed HERE.

    It might be a first step to become a Linux connoisseur to run it in your own test environment, and learn on the job the quirks of Linux, which isn't that complicated at all. It is just different. Docker still has some Docker-related challenges to overcome if you want to deploy it into production.

    Personally, I don't have really good memories when running virtual machines and containers on NAS devices and prefer to use them solely for data storage only.

    For production systems I would stick to bare-metal servers with Ubuntu and any OS for the client.
