Video export encounter the following message "Transcoding is required. Export session restarted."
CompletedHi guys
This happened a few times when I was doing backup of my servers footage.
It says "Transcoding is required. Export session restarted.", and the backup process took a few times longer, and also the eventual backup which also go from a typical 80-100GB to maybe 500-600GB.
Any idea what causes the transcoding to happen? Scenario is I split a day recording of a same group of 32 cameras to maybe 4 files in a 6hours interval, and this happened only to one of the 4.
Regards
Kevin

Hi Kevin Chen,
The transcoding is expected behavior if the timeslot of the exported archive contains a different codec.
For example,
- Codec of the primary stream is h.265 during 15:00-15:30
- Codec of the primary stream is h.264 during 15:31-16:00
When exporting the footage between 15:00-16:00, transcoding will happen. It needs more time(depending on your hardware) to decode/encode the footage.
Another scenario may be - The camera doesn't always record dual-stream, and the codec of the primary/secondary stream is not the same.
Thank you.1 -
