Lot of Dahua models do this.  Any of the 5442 models work well. They interface with Nx well too.

Is this done with in camera analytics? It's not listed as supported by Nx witness

Yes it is. Ive used it personally many many times.  Its an IVS setting in the camera.  Objects come through to the NX system. The camera has to be badged with Dahua Firmware to get the analytics plugin active.  The link you referenced is just about a new firmware.  See here the exact camera I mention is on there.  5442.  The line crossing and intrusion boxes have an option to filter for humans and vehicles.

I see. Looking at the 5442 manual.
    Perimeter Protection
Tripwire; intrusion; fast moving (the three functions
support the classification and accurate detection
of vehicle and human); loitering detection; people
    gathering; parking detection

So, if a person or vehicle enters the area, an event can be sent to Nx witness to create bookmark etc?

Im not sure what else to tell you. It has person and vehicle detection. I use it all the time.  The manual is correct. The websites description clearly says as well, Intelligent monitoring: Intrusion, tripwire, fast moving (the three functions support the classification and accurate detection of vehicle and human).  It works and works well.

Yes to the bookmark. The settings to filter humans or vehicles are in the camera web GUI.  You can then setup a rule for a bookmark in NX. This screenshot is from a 5442 bullet.

    Thanks, you've literally saved me!

Since I have your ear, could I ask a few other questions?

    - When a bookmark is created, is this saved in the timeline in NX Mobile?

    - Upon event of vehicle/person, can I send a notification to my NX Mobile phone that gives me a link to open up the video event?

    - Finally, is it possible for a PTZ to detect a human/vehicle and then zoom and track them?

    THANK YOU

It shows up on your phones alerts. Not the app. It’s not a great design. They’ve talked about implementing events into the mobile app for like 3 years now. Not sure when or if it’ll actually happen. It needs to though.

    Hi Tristan Stania,

I noticed Calvin Wientjes answered all your questions. Please correct me, when I overlooked something.

FYI; Hikvision is working on a fix to resolve the metadata issue. Currently, they share the incorrect data to Nx Witness. Currently, all objects are marked as Undefined Objects.

Calvin Wientjes, thank you for your interaction. Highly appreciated. Events can be received in the mobile application, but I agree, the playback of bookmarks should be a great addition to the Nx Mobile app and I would encourage you all to keep reminding our product team it in this Feature Feedback topic.

    Hi Norman,
    Thanks for your reply.

I looked up the thread you cited. The suggestion I made was first made in that thread over 5 years ago. That's quite sad really.

    Hi Tristan Stania,

Please share your desire for this feature in the thread I mentioned.

I understand that it feels quite sad, but on the other hand, if you check our release notes over the period of 5 years, a lot of features and improvements were added to the software at no charge.

We only can add so much features in each release, which results in postponing other highly desired features for longer that you and I wish for.

To be honest, Nx witness is a wonderful and stable product. The app has never failed me. And that's the best thing. I use the app for 99% of the time. When there is a serious event, then I boot up the old laptop to have a proper look at footage.

There's a balance between new features and product stability. Not for me to judge. But keep in mind, most of us are mobile users these days 😉. Just like me writing this response in bed on my android 😁
