How does backup work across multiple servers
AnsweredI have seen some variances on my question in the forums, however I'm not sure what's the behavior here.
I have always (wrongly) assumed that the backup settings are local to each server, and only noticed the description which clearly states that the backup settings are global, which makes me confused.
Here is the scenario of my System with 3 Servers in 3 different physical locations:
* Server1: 4x Cameras
* Server2: 12 Cameras
* Server3: 30x Cameras
Each server has multiple HDD's set to "Main" and one setup to "Backup".
My purpose was to set the backup folder "similar" to a RAID, but without any need to RAID settings, in each server.
Unfortunately, I am not sure how this is work, since it is a global setting, I am not able to assign specific cameras to Server1's backup HDD... I have to enable all the cameras?
Does each server backup ONLY it's own cameras to it's local storage (ideal), or is the System Backup HDD's split over all the cameras, and in this case are the recordings from Server1 being sent to Server2 and Server3's backup HDD's simultaneously?
Wouldn't it be better to have local Server backup settings? I might want different backup policies to different sites.

Hi Miguel Câmara,
After adding the backup storage on each server, you could press the Backup settings button for detailed configuration:
- Server settings: Define backup type for this server(See the explanation in this article).
- Global settings: Define the cameras for the backup requirement in the whole system.Thus, the archive backup will be triggered when:
- This camera is selected under Global settings(if you only backup part of the cameras).
- The backup storage is available in the server that the camera is connected to. The server only backup its own cameras on its drive.In other words, when the backup process is taken place, the server will check if the connected camera requires backup, and proceed with its backup drive. There's no recording transmission among the servers.
Thank you.
