    Hi Greg,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    Your understanding is entirely correct:

    1. Time Zone Source: Nx Witness relies on the underlying Host Operating System (Windows or Linux) for both its local time zone definition and DST rules. These operating systems typically apply the changes in timezone or DST flawlessly, and don't require manual interactions.
    2. Internet Time Sync in Nx Witness: The "Sync time with the Internet" setting synchronizes the system’s UTC time across servers. It does not set or override the local time zone offset configured at the OS level.

Because video recording indexing, timeline bookmarks, and database events rely on UTC and convert locally via the host OS, there is currently no client-side setting within Nx Witness to override the server's time zone.

Because the servers are headless, you do not need to visit each location physically. You can manage the host operating systems over the network:

    • Remote Access Tool (RAT): If you do not have direct VPN or LAN access to the client sites, you can establish remote connections to the headless servers using our Remote Access Tool (RAT). This allows you to open terminal or desktop sessions remotely without attaching physical monitors.
    • Configuration Management (e.g., Ansible): If you manage dozens of endpoints, using an IT automation and orchestration tool like Ansible (or an existing RMM platform) is typically the fastest approach. It allows you to push time zone updates and time-zone package refreshes across your entire server inventory simultaneously.
    • Standard Remote Shells: For ad-hoc changes, standard remote administrative access (SSH for Linux, PowerShell Remoting/WinRM for Windows) can adjust the host time zone and regional daylight saving definitions directly.

    Best regards.
