Adding a new HDD to Windows NX server box.
AnsweredHi, I am running NX Witness Server in VMWare vSphere environment on a Windows 10 VM. I am using QNAP NAS for storage. But I have had some issues where I seem to have lost files and all sorts of Storage errors from time to time that I can't explain.
So decided to add a HDD to the VM (iSCS to the QNAP NAS), to see if that works better. However, how to I initiate using that HDD. It is available and formatted on the VM. And I can see NX Witness has created an "HD Witness Media" subdirectory. And it has but a .tmp file in there. But nothing else. I can see it has E: in http://localhost:7001/static/index.html#/info. But in the client, in "Server Settings\Storage management, it does not show up there.
I have rebooted the machine, and restarted the service, but it does not start.
How, do I fix this?

We would like to gather more information for investigating, please refer to the below instructions:
1. The latest Nx Witness version is 4.2.0.32840, if your Nx Witness is not running the latest version, you could first try to update the Nx Witness to the latest release.
Check: https://my.networkoptix.com/#/download2. Screenshot of the following pages:
- Web admin page > Monitoring > Storage tab (http://localhost:7001/static/index.html#/info)
- On Nx Client, Server Settings > Storage Management page3. Partition Type of the E:
4. Collect the server DEBUG log
Please follow this support ARTICLE to set the server log level to DEBUG, then restart the media server.
After the media server has started up, collect and share the server log file with us.Besides, you mentioned:
I have rebooted the machine, and restarted the service, but it does not start.
Do you mean the media server did not start?
Or, you mean the media server was still not able to recognize the E: after restarting?Thank you.

Thanks for you response.
However, I have figured out my issue, and it is all my fault.
When I add the new virtual disk to the VM, I created it as 6GB instead of 6TB. I assume NX Witness did not store anything there, because it was too small. I have fixed that, and it is all resolved and working as expected.
Thanks for your support.
Cheers
Matthew.

For your information, a disk should have at least a capacity >50 GB to become available as a storage drive in Nx Witness.
