Trouble permanently deleting cameras

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble permanently deleting some cameras from NX Witness. After I delete them, they keep reappearing in the system even though they are offline and completely disconnected from the network.

Here is what I’ve tried so far:

  • Disabled auto-discovery
  • Disabled motion detection
  • Changed camera settings before deleting

Despite this, they keep coming back. Has anyone encountered this issue before or found a fix? Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Lucian Todor,

    Based on the provided information, the cameras should not return, but apparently they do which isn't expected behavior. 

    Please check if you're running the latest version of the VMS, and otherwise please reach out to your Authorized Reseller.

    They are best equipped to investigate the root cause of this specific issue and get it resolved or escalated for you.

    Do they re-appear after few minutes/hours or after the mediaserver/NVR restarts?

    And what's the permissions group assigned to the user you are using to delete the cameras?

    Could you attach the mediaserver logs?

    Left click Tray assistant icon in the Taskbar > Show Server Log

    I am power user and I also used the administrator login. Logs you can find attached.

    That's you issue right there. the mediaserver process is unable to delete the folders containing the cameras information.

    It could be permissions issues were the folder can't be removed.

    Is the nfs-archive a network attached drive?

    When you brought up the media server, it clicked for me. This morning I realized the recordings for these cameras were still showing up. So I cleared out all the recorded footage and was finally able to remove them completely. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction!

    Hi Lucian Todor 

    Removing devices from the VMS prevents them from reappearing. However, if you reindex the storage, any device with existing recorded data, whether currently online or offline, will show up again.
