Regarding the replacement of a camera with the same model number
AnsweredHello
If a camera malfunctions and is replaced with a spare unit, it will connect automatically—even if the MAC address differs—provided the model number, IP address, ID, and password remain the same.
However, since the connection is established with a different MAC address, unexpected behavior occurs if you repair the faulty camera, keep it as a spare, and then register it again after changing its IP address.
This results in a situation where a camera is registered with a specific MAC address, while the actual camera possessing that MAC address—despite having a different MAC address—also exists within the system.
What steps should I follow to replace it while avoiding this issue?

Hi mutou takafumi,
In case you used the Camera Replacement feature, and at a later stage return the replaced camera, you need to undo the replacement.
Please check THIS Support Article for the options to undo this replacement.

Thank you for your reply.
If you use the same model number and the IP address, ID, and password are identical, the device will automatically be replaced before you can perform the "camera replacement" setup.
I am having trouble with the fact that, when the device is automatically replaced, it retains the MAC address of the previous camera.Since we plan to send a replacement camera for the customer to install themselves, we would like to minimize the effort required on-site as much as possible. Would the following be difficult to arrange?
① Upon replacement, it automatically switches to the MAC address of the replacement camera.
② I want to keep the registration for the faulty camera while registering the newly added camera separately, and then transfer the recorded data using the "Camera Replacement" function.

Hi mutou takafumi,
If you set the device to DHCP or give it another IP address, and allow the System to auto-discover the device or even do it manually, it will be discovered as a unique device, each with a unique MAC.
If you bring back a faulty device after repair, and used the Camera Replacement feature, you need to undo the Replacement as explained before, and after reverting a camera replacement, you must manually relocate the video archive to ensure it attaches to the correct device.
