The problem in version 6.1.0.42176 Live Streaming Time Limit Reached
AnsweredHello, today we updated to the new version 6.1.0.42176, and we are getting the error "Live Streaming Time Limit Reached" on different cameras at different times. What could be the problem? We didn't have this issue with the previous version 6.0.7

Hi Vasic3,
To disable the notification, please follow the steps below based on your System:
- Nx Witness Professional: Simply add additional Professional licenses for your devices.
- Nx Witness Enterprise: You will need to enable Live Viewing Services.
Best regards.

Norman could you clarify how the live viewing works starting in version 6.1
Will privileges need to be purchased to have live viewing beyond a time limit for the enterprise installations? Previously it was not limited in any way.

Hi Greg
This notification was introduced in version 6.1 and triggers when the number of connected devices exceeds your available license channels (Nx Witness Professional) or credits (Nx Witness Enterprise) and lasts for 30 seconds, and repeats itself every 10 minutes.
For example, if you have 50 channels but 60 connected devices, the notification will appear on those 10 additional devices. It displays for 30 seconds and recurs every 10 minutes.
To resolve this and clear the notifications, you would simply need to add 10 additional license channels or Services to your account.
Kind regards.

Same situation here with the latest 6.1 updates.
Does it stop recording?
I have 4 Pro and 4 Start licenses.
Do I need to buy 4 new Pro license to replace the already paid for start licenses?
Can I simply downgrade and get back to a working system?
Does this also affect mobile viewing?

Hi Ryan,
Here is a breakdown of how these changes affect your system:
- Recording Continuity: Your system will not stop recording. The update introduces a notification regarding license compatibility, but it does not disable your cameras or interrupt your footage storage.
- License Compatibility: You do not need to purchase new Pro licenses to replace your Starter licenses. If you currently have 4 Professional channels and a 4-channel Starter pack (totaling 8 channels), the system should continue to function as expected, unless you have more then 8 cameras connected to the system. If you encounter any functional limitations, please let us know immediately so we can investigate.
- Downgrading: Yes, you can downgrade to version 6.0.6. This will remove the notification and return the interface to its previous state.
- Mobile Client Viewing: The notification is visible across all Clients, including the Mobile client.
With kind regards.

We recently received feedback via an anonymous, disposable email account regarding the live streaming changes in version 6.1. While the messages violated our Code of Conduct regarding tone, we believe in transparency and want to address the concerns raised.
The 10-Minute Live Stream Limit change was driven by the significant AWS infrastructure costs associated with cloud-tunneled live streaming.
Legacy Support: Users who prefer the previous behavior and wish to avoid the placeholder can continue to use version 6.0.x, which remains available.
Also a comment about Content Moderation and "Free Speech" was made. We welcome all constructive feedback, regardless of whether it is critical as long as it is done in a respectfull way.

Hello !
Does this limitation stop audio feeds if the camera audio is mapped to another camera ?
Kind regards

Norman Would you consider disabling this alert for local networks, i.e. not connected to Nx Cloud?
My network is only accessible internally or via my own VPN; it's not touching Nx's AWS infrastructure.

Hi rdrr,
At this moment I don't anticipate any changes in the behavior of this feature.

It makes sense from the AWS point of view but not so much on an isolated network, but, only if…? I'll explain bellow.
There must be a significant amount of NX servers running more cameras for live view than licenced or not licenced at all for this to be implemented.
I must admit that was a real nicety of NX to be able to run it fully minus recording indefinitely, without paying for a single licence which it why I can understand someone might get upset with the change however I don't sympathise if someone doesn't at least have 1 paid licence.
NX can't pay the bills by suppling a mostly free software.
Perhaps that might have been the softer approach? If someone has a paid licence, they can live view X number of cameras uninterrupted for without before requiring an additional licence for live view locally. Just get rid of AWS access if someone doesn't have a licence to cover the device, why incur that cost at all after the trial period?
If a 60-camera server has 50 licences and routinely views 60 live view I can understand the burden of the extra AWS streaming costs, multiplied over clients this cost would add up very quickly.
This is why I think the port forward reward would work better. If you can get client to server connections off the cloud, wouldn’t we all win?
I personally don’t use the NX cloud connection to my server as it is too slow to load, I connect directly via port forwarding. Perhaps I should get more vocal about it as I ignore it at this point as I have the port forwarding connection work around.
I only rely on the cloud connection for push notifications. I have cloned the NX android app with Parallel Space (Paid for it) to bypass the main NX app for cloud connection for live view.
I've only stumbled across this implementation today accidently. I have some construction next door at come that I want to keep an extra eye on temporarily, no recording required. While playing with the camera it popped up.
All though I understand, sadly, this is the first instance I can think of NX removing functionality of its software for a licenced user (I’m only a small fry with 9 licences and a home server), however I am a CCTV installer for my employer who does install NX on large sites.
I really hope not but I can’t help but think the lifetime licence model is going to end sooner than I thought.
This is the first big red flag I’ve seen supporting this. From here at some point soon I can see NX at some point saying that the cloud costs are too much to support the existing user base of lifetime licences and will force existing lifetime licence holders onto an initial discounted cloud subscription model.
