Rest V3 Speakers
AnsweredHello support,
We have 8 speakers installed on the nx system, which are output-only devices. On our account on the website the model shown for each device is an ONVIF_IPSPEAKER. When we request the devices via the API at the ‘rest/v3/devices’ endpoint, they speakers come back in the response, but the ‘deviceType’ value is ‘Camera’. Can you explain why this is and how it can be changed so that the ‘deviceType’ value in the API will be defined as a speaker?
Thank you,
Elan

Hi Elan Paul,
Thank you for your question. This behavior is expected.
According to the API document - there are seven different device types.
At the moment, HornSpeaker is applied only to devices that are natively integrated by Nx, such as AXIS C1004-E or Hanwha SPA-P100..etc. These devices are recognized by the system as horn speakers by default.
For other devices that are connected via the ONVIF protocol, the system does not have sufficient information to determine whether the device is an audio device or a camera. As a result, they are recognized as cameras by default.
Currently, there is no external or supported way to force a non-natively integrated device to be treated as a horn speaker, as this would impact internal implementation logic. Therefore, this behavior will remain as is for now.
Thank you for your understanding.
