How is storage managed
AnsweredI have read through this article https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/articles/205501378-How-does-Nx-Witness-manage-storage but it doesn't really go through the scenario.
If I have a server with the following drives:
1-C: drive 500GB
1-D: Drive 3TB
1-E: Drive 10TB
Based on the above article it will write to the D and E drives only and it appears it will do this proportionally. The question is will the 10TB be limited to just the 3TB of storage or will we have a total of 13TB or storage for use of recording? Can someone please explain more how this will work with different size drives in the same system?

Hi @...,
You should be able to use the 3 TB + 10 TB = 13 TB minus 10 ~ 30 GB for each local drive.
Writing happens in close to equal percentages. So if 1 TB is written to the 3 TB drive, approx 3.33 TB will be written to the 10 TB drive.
See this image:

In this way the load is as equal as it can be and the read/write cycles equally divided and therefore unexpected drive failure is reduced as much as possible.

Based on the article I posted above if I have a 14TB and a 1TB data drive in a system the 1TB will not get used because it is less than 10% of the 14TB drive. Is this correct?

That is correct.
