How to Choose a Camera Stream Profile to Play on Nx Witness?
AnsweredDear Nx Optix,
I will like to specify the video profile I will like to play in Nx Witness. For the camera, its profile 1 is 1920 X 1080 resolution and for profile 8 it is also 1920 X 1080 resolution. However, instead of playing profile 1, I will like to play profile 8 (for some secretive reasons). Anyways, by default I think that Nx will just show profile 1. How can I configure such that it shows profile 8 instead? Thanks!
Best,
Yingyu

Hello Yingyu,
in the ONVIF case the server tries to read the existing profiles first, sorts them in the lexicographical order and selects 2 any of them in a row that match certain requirements(codecs for those profiles must be supported). This behavior can not be overridden. If you need to set some custom resolution feel free to use the Advanced tab of the Camera settings.

Hello Anton,
Sure, I will try that, thanks for the advice.

Just wanted to add a note here - Nx Witness does sometimes use profiles. You can generally remove them from the camera on the camera's web page. Profiles are added to a camera if the Allow System to optimize camera is enabled in the System Administration dialog under the System Settings section.
You can read more about it in the Camera Optimization article.0
