What causes "Failed to restore database" message?

    Hi Jeff Jones,

    Most likely it will be difficult to determine what caused the failure, but a reasonable assumption is that a writing process was interrupted due to the lightning. 

    If you can't do an automatic restore, you still might be able to use one of the backup database as describe in THIS support article.

    The automatic backups aren't available anymore. I am restoring from a manual 4.1 backup that was made after the server was upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1 about month ago.

    I guess if the backup was corrupted somehow, the only other option is to reconfigure the licenses and camera settings and users from scratch?

    You might want to consider replacing all equipment, since lighting can damage electronics a lot. 
    Not sure about the situation in your country, but in my country such invisible damage is covered by most insurance companies.
