Play Showreel or Fullscreen Layout on Startup
AnsweredIs it possible to automatically play a showreel (or display a Layout in fullscreen) upon application startup? I currently have the desktop client set to start upon boot (Ubuntu 18.04), but I'd like to also have one of my showreels automatically play without me having to click the "Play Showreel" button.

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for your suggestions. At the moment, Nx Witness supports manually launch the Showreel.
We don't have the function to automatically execute showreel or full screen at the moment.0 -
BTW, your request would be directed to the "NEW FEATURE IDEA" section.
Our product team would check and review it.
Thanks.1 -
This would be a great feature. For us, we have some locations with a LOT of cameras, but the majority of our client hardware is low end. So we like to utilize Showreels to display a smaller number of cameras. If we could autolaunch them, it would be great. We would use this on client machines on secondary screens, as well as some viewing stations that don't have any interaction other than observation

I've got this working on a client's machine. Linux running on an Intel nuc with client 4.0.3 (latest patch), running 4.0 (current release version) on the server. As long as we have showreel running, it goes straight back to showreel after a restart

That's great to hear Glynn! Was there anything specific you needed to do to set that up?

Being on a Linux OS, I added Nx Client to start up, ensured the unit auto login upon start up, ticked Nx client auto login.
Created a new showreel, saved it, and then ran it, so its active.
As long as its active upon the unit being powered off, it'll start up again.
If you close the app by 'disconnect from server', it will not restart on showreel when reopened

Hi Glynn, Brian,
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll try to get it fixed in the 4.2 version.

Has there been any progress here? Are we able to auto-launch showreels from the CLI?

Hi all,
One customer has exactly the same question.
The main difference : He have 3 screen and he already use cli to force nx opening on screen 1 or 2 ,etc ...He needs to start showreel 1 on screen 1, showreel 2 on screen 2, and a fixed layout on screen 3.
Currently only the last part is possible (screen 3, using --layout-name= and --screen=)Any way to start "Nx witness" with CLI to do that ?
With a command prompt like :
HD Witness.exe" --auth=http://admin:1234@192.168.1.200:7001 --showreel=showreelname:autostart=trueBest regards

Hi Norman,
What do you think about this, please ?

Hi Loïc TONON,
At this time, there isn't an available command line option to begin the client with the showreel.
