When there are no recordings, the pre-recording and post-recording won't be done in case of a generic event. So what you describe is expected behaviour.

Sorry Norman - Nx Support, but this expected behaviour doesn't make sense.

If I were to create a "Soft Trigger" which would action a recording configured to do 2 seconds Pre-Recording and 5 seconds Post-Recording and execute it at 09:00, it results in a recording that starts at 08:58 and ends at 09:05 (Off by a seconds or so which is not an issue)

However, changing the "Soft Trigger" into a "Generic Event" results in no recording at all. How is this thus expected behaviour ?

I'm basically echoing Alan Hares question in that post's comment section.

    Hi P,

If you'd like to use pre/post recording, the status "active/inactive" must be included in the generic event.
The pre-recording will start when Nx receiving the generic event with "active" status; And the post recording will start when Nx receiving the generic event with "inactive" status. You will find the discussion in this POST of community.

    Thank you.

P Roets, I got around the problem by sending a generic event with the active Status to start the recording and then 5 seconds later send the inactive status, this seems to work perfectly when wanting to use the Pre and Post recording settings with  Generic event, still don't understand why you cant just send a generic event and it starts the recording for the post amount of time and adds the Pre time to it, why do we have to tell Nx to stop recording ? when we already have with the Post recording time setting?
