Two servers both recording with different schedules
AnsweredCan the second server have a different recording schedule to the first server.
We would like server A to record Stream 1 + Stream 2 for 90 days.
We would like server B to record Stream 2 only for 3 years.
Does the second server require licensing, eg for the 8 cameras and 2 servers do we need 16 licenses?

Hi Adam,
The answer is yes.
If you'd like to apply two recording schedule of one camera. You might need to setup two "systems" and your requirement will takes 8 licenses for each system.
Thanks.

Hi Adam,
Please notice that not all cameras are capable of providing streams to multiple servers due to the hardware limitations of the camera itself. To circumvent this, you can retrieve the stream from server 1 to server 2. Be aware this might require additional hardware resources for server 1 since you add additional load to server 1.

Hi Adam,
We discussed this internally and there might be a solution to saves you the additional cost of the double number of licenses.
If you just need to keep the archive (stream 1 for 90 days and stream 2 for 3 years), then you could consider the following way to save a set of the licenses:
1. Enable recording for 8 cameras for both stream, the archive will be saved to Main storage. Be aware you should not set a max. retention time otherwise this workaround does not work.
2. Right-click on your Nx server and select the Server Settings. Under the Storage management tab, add the backup storage and configure the backup setting(Backup Quality: Lo-Res Streams).
3. Estimate and extend the disk size of backup storage for saving 3 years archive. In summary, the main storage is used for saving both streams / 90 days. And the backup storage is for saving the 2nd stream / 3 years.0
