    Hi Anthony,

There is no need to set up external storage on the OS level, you can do this through the Nx Desktop client as described in THIS support article.

    Doesn't work.

This is with a nx1 and it is running bananian 15.04.

It is unable to mount anything other than SMB1.0 and 1.1.

Trying to use 2/3 etc fails which is what the happens when you attempt it with the desktop client.

As best i can tell the kernel doesn't support the higher level SMB versions or it is disabled in the kernel config.

Seeing as debian wheezy has been EOL for so long i am surprised an update from you guys hasn't been released.

BTW. Installing Armbian  onto an SD card in the nx1 and installing nx server what you linked works fine.

It is 100% an issue with the OS.

    Hi Anthony,

Surprising. I have an Nx1 right here and have a Synology NAS and a QNAP NAS connected to it without any issues.

Regarding the EOL of Debian Wheezy, you're right, but the Nx1 is EOL as well for quite a while now and 4.0 is the last version that will be available for the Nx1.

Thank you for suggesting Armbian. This seems like a useful option for anyone who wants to use an ARM-based device.

I'm connecting to a FreeNAS server. Not that it should matter as the command the nx1 tries gives an error no matter what you actually enter.
I am wondering what is wrong with the OS on the nx1's if have then...

I have tried going through tech support but they don't know why and want to remote in but they have not been able to.

Is there a way to get a copy of the base os or something for these things?

Sucks they are EOL. They are good. Other than this issue

    Hi Anthony,

You wrote that you tried through tech support. Our tech support? I can't find any ticket on your name. Can you share a ticket number with me?

The base OS is Debian 7.9 Wheezy and should be downloaded through the Debian website it this is still available.

I can understand that people really like the Nx1, but we noticed that most users use cameras that cause a higher bandwidth load on the devices and also our software has grown over the years which made the Nx1 too weak for the general use case.

It was intended for up to 4 HD cameras and nowadays 4 MP cameras or more commonly used with a higher demand for 4K cameras as well and the Nx1 has some limitations to use it in conjunction with such devices.

But the good news is that we enabled our Professional licenses for any ARM so people can easily use Nx on a more powerful ARM Single Board Computer so they can add more cameras with higher resolution with higher bandwidth demands.

Unfortunately the licences are locked to the hardware so i would have to purchase new licences...

Will see what i can do about moving to a different NVR solution instead i think.

    Hi Anthony,

You can deactivate/activate the licenses up to times without any limitations.
Since these are Edge licenses you only can activate them on other ARM hardware.

I read the contents of support ticket #19334. You wrote you bricked them and will throw them away, but since we have this conversation I assume you resuscitated them?

I will ask our dev team if they have a solution.

I have bricked the nx install. it no longer works. Flashed the sdcards with just an os and they work like that but obviously without nxwitness.

I couldn't deactivate the licennces as that was my first thought. Move them to a different device but it would not allow it.

Oke, please take the following steps:

    1. Share the serial numbers with us in the ticket you created. (Do not share them here!!)
    2. Install the Nx Witness media server application on the devices. (download LINK)
    3. Provide the Hardware IDs and share these in the ticket as well. (Do not share them here!!)

In this way, we can deactivate the license keys that belong to the serial numbers and assign them to the new hardware IDs.

From there on, we can investigate where it went wrong with the external storage.

Not exactly what i was after but close enough!

According to the pi the server is running but it doesn't appear to work lol...

Will try installing via the .deb file instead.

    Hi Anthony,

You can say Norman to Graham. ;-)

I added the corresponding license keys to the serial numbers and hwid you shared in the ticket and requested our licensing team to do their magic. They are US based so it might take some time before they reply.

Ps. Do I understand it correctly you installed stock (headless) Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on your Nx1 instead of Armbian or Bananian?

Oh and i would highly recommend Armbian for nx1's.

Can get them updated to ubuntu 18.04.

They seem to run faster too.

3x2mp cameras and 1x4mp camera. Motion detection all done on the nx1 (Banana Pi Pro). low res constant recording/hi res on event...

    Nice low usage :D
