Protect bookmarked events from deletion

Hello,
would be nice to have the option to protect the bookmarked events from deletion for times longer than the overwrite cycle.
an variable to set the protected period (for example I might want to protect one event for 6 month, another permanent) would be even nicer

Agreed, this is a feature I've wanted since first moving to NX Witness from Avigilon. Also, the ability to make the bookmark private to a particular user.

I must be honest with you. For some reason, it didn't make it to the roadmap.
I can't reproduce it anymore after 2 years, but I think I screwed up the internal feature request process.My colleague created the correct request right now and it is up to our product management if it makes it to the roadmap and when it will be added if it is added to the roadmap.

definitely! <Another VMS> has it now. Actually many other VMS's have this feature now. You guys are ahead with a lot of features but some of those 'new features' not actually on your roadmap(Correct me if I'm wrong), are becoming 'old' but necessary features. my two cents.

I edited your post a tiny bit since it does not make sense to advertise other brands here.
What you describe will always be the case. All VMS will have comparable features and luckily also will have unique features.
We wish we could fulfill all requests we get, but unfortunately, we have our limitations in resources, just like any other software development company, so for each release we have to discuss the pros and cons and select the features that apply to most users. Our aim was never to offer the same as our colleagues, but this feature is on the roadmap right now and will be offered in a feature release.

I saw there are various requests about bookmarks and limited access to recordings in the last 2 years, so I'm not the only one

Hello Norman,
As pointed out in the article, if you have setup a maximum retention time, then the solution is not viable.
Even with this possible solution we would still need either:
1) Different retention time for the backup recordings
2) Ability to lock specific bookmarks as "special" which can only be deleted manually, for example.
In Europe you always have a maximum ammount of time that you can keep regular recordings.
For example in Portugal we need to have a minimum and maximum of 30 days of recordings, but if we receive a special request from the police we need to keep a specific time period for at least 1 year.
In this example, of course you can export it and keep it in an external storage, but we still have customer who want to easily bookmark and protect recordings in their system, regardless of the legal necessities.
