AnsweredWhat is the timeline do you think for being compatible with 18.04LTS? I am suffering random server failures with 16.04 that I did not have with 14.04. They are just random and infrequent enough that its almost a non-issue, but still irritating. Fail-over works fine so it is not catastrophic when a server fails. I haven't had time to dive in and find the cause/fix yet, but I believe it to be network related. But if it comes to it, I'd rather upgrade to 18.04 than revert to 14.04. I know the client relies on Unity which has gone away in 18.04 but I rarely install the client on my servers anyway. Just curious.

I'm keen to see this as well, we don't have issues on the server side so much so even if the server component isn't released initially I'd like to see the desktop client released for 18.04 as Desktops move faster than the server side we now have a number of users who can't use the client any more and rely on the web interface which is less than ideal.

Hi Paul, Campbell,
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is planned to be supported on Nx v4.0.
The ETA now is not yet precise, but roughly, 2018/End or 2019/Q1.
Hope this can answer your question.
Thanks.

Thanks for the update and plan, that's quite a while away. Any chance a Beta release will be out before then to test with? I'd really like to get some of our 18.04 users (client only not server) onto the native client before then if possible.

Hi Steven Campbell,
Currently, I wouldn't recommend using 18.04 LTS in general, since it has some strange new features and it is a bit buggy.
Also, the support of high DPI monitors isn't well supported in 18.04 LTS yet.
On July 26th, Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS should be released and hopefully, this will be more stable and less buggy.
As Ichiro said, official support will be offered at the end of the year in the release of v4.0.0 -
Dear Paul and Steven,
By accident, I stumbled upon this thread again and I want to inform you that 18.04 LTS seems to be stable right now, but always check it with the hardware you have used.
18.04 LTS is supported for Nx Witness 3.2.0.21264 or newer.0 -
Thanks Norman,
I've been using the 18.04 client for a few months now, it seems to work fine for my pretty simple use case.
