Motion activation issue

I have this issue from time to time on clients servers as well as my own where the motion on the camera is being activated constantly on areas of the ground with brick patios or gravel.  When I do playback with the motion search feature on(walking man button) it highlights the motion area that trips it.   Nothing is moving, and there are no shadows causing it to trip

 

 It happens on various brands of cameras.  Is this a camera issue or a VMS issue?

  Hi Greg,

  False positives are a known behavior when using Motion Detection. By reviewing what triggers these events, indicated by red squares, you can significantly reduce unnecessary alerts. This can be achieved by lowering the sensitivity settings or excluding specific areas from detection (setting sensitivity to 0).

  If there would be an issue,, it would stem from the VMS itself. However, this feature has remained stable and unchanged for over a decade, so it's very likely we're simply dealing with typical false positives.
