Cant add camera
AnsweredHikvision with 5.7.18
I had this camera previously added to the system but the incorrect model name was showing under the camera settings tab and analytic capabilities were not being displayed.
I deleted camera and went to re add it to the system but when I do the manual add it finds the camera and is just stuck on "adding" until I cancel it.
Ive tried rolling back the firmware and that doesnt help. I do have another same model camera with the same firmware on the system.
I am able to add it with the rtsp stream and it works but doesnt give the analytics

Hi Greg,
I hope you’re doing well! I noticed that this topic hasn’t received any engagement from the community yet, and I wanted to check in with you. Is the issue you mentioned still relevant or something you’re looking to resolve?
Best regards.

I keep trying every setting in the camera I can see that might help and still no success, upgrade/downgrade firmware etc.
I believe it has to do with the camera having been already installed on the system at another ip address as I use this same model camera on numerous other installations without any issues.

Hi Greg,
For Hikvision devices, it's often necessary to enable ONVIF and create an ONVIF user account using the same credentials as the admin account.
If you've experimented with various settings and are still facing issues, performing a factory reset on the device can help ensure a clean configuration without any conflicts.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, it is recommended to analyze the communication during the discovery and initialization with Wireshark, to understand what is going wrong where.

Ive enabled onvif and created an account, that is necessary for any hikvision camera to connect. Ive done the factory reset on the camera with no success, set the time on the camera, changed different onvif authentication modes.
The camera does get recognized by the system, the issue is it just stays in the "adding" phase indefinitely.
Maybe ill create a new VMS installation on a PC and see if the camera will be accepted onto to that,

Hi Greg,
If it is possible to provide remote access to the device via port forwarding, we can add it to our test environment to investigate the issue. Please let me know if this is possible, and I'll transfer this topic into a support ticket, so you can share the access credentials privately.
Best regards.

Hi Greg,
Typically, resolving this involves deleting the VMS profiles from the camera, which is usually done when you reset the device to its default settings. However, if that doesn’t resolve the issue, I’d recommend using Wireshark to capture the communication between the server and the camera. This will help identify what’s happening and why.
If your goal is to clear all data from the VMS, you can delete the
ecs.sqlite
database. Please note that this action will remove everything, so proceed with caution. -
I was just able to get this resolved. The camera I was trying to add was previously in a different location on the same property and it was moved and where it was, was replaced by a different camera. I had to delete both cameras off the system then re-discover them in order for the one in question to be added.

Thank you for the update Greg!
