Timeline Recording Problem and Upgrading Problem
NewHi,
We had been using 4.2.0 at one site. We're going to add more new cameras and I'd been successfully using 5.1.3 at another site, so I thought we should upgrade.
However we started having immediate problems with it. Most prominent was that when reviewing footage, one would be fast forwarding through a moment of motion, then the timeline would just jump to the moment (date and time) that I upgraded the servers to 5.1.3. It did not do that all the time with all cameras, but happened several times. Secondly a few of the camera streams would drop out, giving three waiting dots, then reconnect after say 30 - 60 seconds, which wasn't happening previously, and lastly there was an event rule programmed so that when a tripwire on a specific camera was crossed, that camera would go full screen during the motion then return to the 2 x 2 layout it was from, however when meant to return it put the other 3 cameras into the past showing "no data" and one would have to then go to that layout and press live to bring them back to present time.
Anyway, so then I ended up deleting 5.1.3 and reinstalling 4.2.0, following the NX Witness instructions on how to do that.
All ended up fine and back to normal, except that now I have 4 of the cameras which when they are recording, don't end their green period on the timeline at the end of motion, creating lots of individual green parts of motion. Instead it just continues showing green on the timeline even when there is no recording due to no motion, and when you try to review it, if you click on a section of recording when there was no motion it just skips to live, and if you happen to click on a time when there was motion (it's all just one continuous long ongoing green block on the timeline which continues on and on, no way to know when the motion was), then it will play the moment of motion until that ends, then it will skip to live.
I tried deleting and re-installing one of these cameras but it made no difference. We have two servers merged together at this site, so I deleted then tried to reinstall that camera on the other server but it just did the same thing.
I tried deleting the camera, changing its IP address and adding it NX Witness again, but that made no difference.
I reindexed the server these 4 cameras were connected to, and that got rid of the long ongoing block of green timeline and made the timeline normal with normal segments that could be searched through. However as soon as there was fresh motion, these cameras started creating this ongoing never-ending green block on the timeline again with the same reviewing problems as above.
I tried adding a completely fresh new camera to see what it would do, and it was recording normally (individual green instances of recorded motion showing on the timeline), no ongoing continuous green chunk on the timeline.
We are using two Dell Servers for this. I am using several different video clients to view/review footage, which are all running Windows 10 (all Windows 10 Pro except one which is Windows 10 Home).
So I am left with these problems:
1. The 4 cameras with the recording/reviewing problems above.
2. Not being able to upgrade to 5.1.3 without problems.
I could replace all 4 cameras but it doesn't make sense to me and has expense connected with that.
Please could you give me any direction that might help resolve this.
Best, Edward
