Text overlay

In China and Europe, there are lots of requests to "Text overlay on the video".
They will integrate many subsystems to help them retrieved information and display on the same screen.
For example, every trucks drive out from a food factory, they need to be weighed to check not too heavy to violate their regulations.
Here will have several cameras at the weighed meter and entrance, so they can both have the information of each truck's plate and its weight when the truck goes by.
There is another common usage, there is a larger parking lot, it has surveillance system, payment system and LPR system. They can integrate all the subsystem together.
When a car comes in, soon the screen shows the plate number on the surveillance system.
When that car goes out, it can show the payment status on the VMS screen as well.
This is a very useful function to put all the subsystem together.

I realize this is an old question - but those features are now part of Nx Witness. Check out the latest version if you haven't yet.

What if 'cat' to 'caption file(s)' with the same filename as video? For example, if we prepare caption file aaa.srt for aaa.mkv, then the caption screen appears while playing aaa.mkv. There are many 'auto playing' players... will this work for Nx video player, I mean, for recorded video? If this works, I guess we can add required text message almost in real time.
