NX Witness iOS app doesn't respond to volume controls
AnsweredIn the iOS NX Witness app on my iPhone, when I am viewing a camera with an audio feed, the audio is always played at full volume on the iPhone and the app does not reflect the iOS volume control. There also appears to be no mute option when viewing the stream.
Environment
iOS 17.2
iPhone 13 Pro
NX Witness app 23.2.37408 (rev e63f4b376a34)
NX Witness server app5.1.1.37512 running on Windows 11 Pro server connected to PoE switch.
Network topology: iOS app being used on Wi-Fi via Eero Wi-Fi routers. Server PC and 8 Hikvision cameras connected to 18 port PoE network switch.
Reproduction scenario
- Open the iOS app
- View a camera feed that has audio enabled
- Try adjusting the volume using the iPhone's volume buttons.
Expected result:
- Volume should adjust up and down in the NX Witness iOS app.
Actual result:
- Volume remains at full volume, despite the iOS volume bar visually moving up and down on screen.

Hello Dan Warne,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to inform you that, currently, I do not have access to any iOS device. However, I have initiated an internal request to check if we can reproduce the issue you reported. If successful, we will promptly create a task for our development team to address and resolve the issue. Please be aware that iOS 17.x is not officially supported at the moment, so the final solution may take some time.
In the interim, it would greatly assist us if you could attempt to reproduce the issue with DEBUG2 logging enabled. Once done, please share the log ID with us so that we can further investigate and expedite the resolution process.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Best regards.

Hello Dan and Norman,I am not running iOS 17 test, so not 100% sure if this is still valid or relevant. It might be the case like in my iOS when I use the volume buttons I am actually only controlling the “Ringer Volume”:In my case the buttons are not changing the speaker volume. This is an option that can be changed in the iOS Audio Settings:If you disable this “change with buttons” option in the “ringtone and alert volume” section of the iOS settings, maybe it will start working for you.

Thanks a lot Miguel Câmara!!
Really appreciate it. We'weren't able to reproduce it yet, since it seems that most colleagues with iOS are having their holiday this week. Can you confirm Dan Warne if this suggestion resolves the issue you encounter?

Hi Dan Warne,
Since it has been a while since we heard from you, we assume that the feedback of Miguel Câmara resolved the issue, and we close this topic accordingly.
