When a Server in a Cloud-connected system fails, bringing it back online improperly can disrupt your network and prevent it from reconnecting with other Servers.
Follow these steps to safely restore your Server (referred to as Server A) and reconnect it to your existing Site (referred to as Main Site).
Step 1: Reinstall and set up Server A as a standalone Server
Repair or replace your Server A hardware.
Install the Media Server software on Server A.
Open the Desktop Client and configure Server A as a new Site.
Give this temporary setup a unique name (for example, Server B).
Do not merge it with Main Site yet.
Do not add any cameras.
Go to Site Administration and turn off Enable devices and servers auto discovery.
Delete any device that the Site automatically discovered.
Log out of Server A.
Step 2: Clear failed Server references from your Cloud system
Open Nx Desktop and log into Main Site.
Locate Server A in the Resource Tree, where it appears offline.
Drag all cameras assigned to Server A to another active server (for example, Server C). Take note of which cameras you moved.
Right-click the offline Server A in the Resource Tree and select Delete.
Log out of Main Site.
Step 3: Connect and merge Server A back into the system
Log into Server B using the Desktop client.
Connect Server B to your cloud account:
Select Main Menu > System Administration > Cloud.
Click Connect System to Cloud.
Open the Cloud portal in your web browser.
Merge Server B into Main Site. If you encounter merge errors, refresh your session by logging out of the cloud portal and logging back in.
Return to the Desktop Client and log into Main Site. Server B now appears online.
Drag the cameras you moved in Step 2 back from Server C to Server B.
