How to obtain a correct Server to run with the Open-Source Desktop Client

To be able to run a Desktop Client, you will need to have a compatible Server. 

Since we do not provide source code for the Server, only certain distributions are publicly available. Once we release a version, we create an appropriate tag in the Git repository to identify the commit and compatible version and build number.

The tag looks like the following: vms/<version>/<version>_<type>, where:

• <version> - major and minor version
• <build> - build number within a version
• <type> - release type. Examples:
  • beta_default - beta version released for Nx Witness only
  • meta+<meta ID> - Nx Meta intermediate release (ID can be R1, R2, R0.1 etc)
  • release_all - release for all OEM Partners

For instance, vms/5.1/35151_release_meta_R1. This means that the compatible Server would be version 5.1.0, build 35151 of Nx Meta.

Please perform build from tags only to be able to connect to a compatible Server!

General rule:

• Upcoming Release branches can be compatible with Nx MetaVMS server with the appropriate version or your OEM Beta version (if released)
• Current/Past Release branches: can be compatible with your OEM.

Once you build Open-Source Desktop Client, the links for the compatible Servers for all platforms will be located in the compatible_servers.txt file inside the build folder.
