Which Hard Drive to store analytics data
AnsweredHi,
I tried searching and understanding this.
I typically set my OS drive to an SSD, and 500GB SSDs are common these days.
Storage drives are mechanical and 4TB and upwards for which I use to store the video of course.
My questions is about "Stores analytics data". Since OS HDD is very fast, and quite large these days, is there a performance benefit to storing analytics data on SSDs vs mechanical drives? Does it make searching events faster?
What exactly is Analytics data? Is it large video files that suit a mechanical drive? or database type data that would suit a faster SSD?

Hi Tristan Stania,
If you can use SSD, that is always better.
Analytics data is the object detail, i.e. metadata which provided by the 3rd plugin or softwares.
Those plugins and software could do some object detection or recognition, for example : license plate, vehicle, people, face, age, gender....etc. .Those analytics data is generated by the plugin or 3rd party, then it could be sent and store in Nx Witness via sqlite database, so you would be ablate search the video with those metadata and object information from Nx Witness client and its corresponding video clips or images.
Thanks.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, rebuilding the server.
1) So “Storage analytics and motion data” is only the events that are configured and pushed from the IP cameras themselves if I have configured them?
2) The image below then I assume using the Motion Search function is NX Witness that creates that the data in the timeline? Is this stored in the same area as “Storage analytics and motion data”? Or pulled from video and analysed through the client in real time?
In Short, I will have 64TB of Video Storage. I can spare 1GB on an SSD drive for “Storage analytics and motion data”. Should I put the “Storage analytics and motion data” on the SSD?
Thanks
