Faster way of viewing nx backup files
AnsweredHi
I have trouble opening .nov file, especially huge ones that is as big as 2TB plus.
Is there a correct way of opening a big file like this? As it more or less hangs the computer when trying to open it using nx client.
Regards
Kevin

Hi Kevin Chen,
The bigger the files you are handling, the more resources your computer needs.
Therefore, some people that just browse the internet can utilize a $150 Chromebook, while a professional Video Editor might use a Mac Pro Tower starting at $5,999.00 till a ten-fold of that, to handle the large files required to edit a lengthy movie at 4K.
It should not make the computer hang (as in a permanent state) but I might be unresponsive during the initialization of such large files.

Hi Norman,
Currently i am using a workstation to play it and still need to wait.
For such cases, since the file has been created and is so huge that we are unable to use.
Is there a work around to break it into smaller parts so it is playable?
eg we can break it into 4 parts so it could be played by a normal PC?

You could split it manually with the Nx Witness Desktop Client, by loading the file and export it once again in the desired sections.
Or, probably the most easy way is to split the source file into multiple files with the same length with the help of FFmpeg as described in Medium THIS article.
