Replacing video file with compressed version
AnsweredHello,
I am testing compressing/transcoding the files that the system recorded. When I replace the file with the compressed version, I can play it in the compressed format from the UI if I point to it, but when I start playing the timeline from an earlier file, the UI skips the compressed file. Is there a solution to this? Also, is there a tool or some other way to compress the files later say after 2 weeks to save on the storage space?

Hi Igor Nepochatov,
You can't replace files. It will create a conflict with the archive integrity and will skip the files as you noticed.
There is currently no tool to achieve this. -
Hello Norman - Nx Support,
Thank you for your answer. I am considering developing the plugin/tool to do that using Meta. Is this something that is technically possible using the NX platform?

Hi Igor Nepochatov,
I hope not, since that would mean that the archive integrity could be manipulated.
That being said, in version 5.0, there will be more backup options, that might solve your request.
You will be able to choose if you only want to back up data of the Primary and/or Secondary stream and also able to select what to back up:
