    Hi Tome,

To get notifications, you have to set up the applicable rules.

So first assure in the Camera Settings menu, tab Motion that Motion Detection (1) is enabled and the appropriate areas are selected with the proper sensitivity level (2). The default level for the whole grid is 5. 0 Disables the motion for that area, and 9 is the most sensitive setting.

When the Motion Detection has been configured correctly, you need to set up a rule in the Rule Engine.

In the example above we select Motion on Cameras (3) and let it apply to <Any Camera> and added the Action: Show Desktop notification for All Administrators.

Hi Tome and Norman - Nx Support,

Just a little additional detail to Norman's response, might not be relevant for this case, but maybe for other cases.

By default motion detection is done on Stream2, and only if the resolution is lower than 1024x768.

So, if after you setup motion detection, and the rule, you still don't get notifications and no Smart Motion Search, then the issue might be that you don't have a Stream2 setup or that your Stream2's resolution is above 1024x768.

The solution might be to lower your resolution on Stream2 or enable the option to "Force Motion Detection" on the "expert" tab of the camera settings:

If you use this option, be aware that if the resolution is above 1024x768, you might be causing extra resource consumption, mainly the CPU, since it is processing additional pixels.

    Hi Tome,

    Sure, you can use:

    /ec2/getEventRules

to get an example of the formatting and process it with:

    /ec2/saveEventRule
