seaching Hardware for 120x Substream simultaneously
AnsweredHello everyone,
We have a Customer with 4 differnt Stores and 30 Cameras per Location also NX Withnes Server & Client on every Store.
Now he wants a computer in his home in an HE2 server case that he can use to play all 120 cameras (on substreams) from his Shops simultaneously via NX Witness Client.
Since only low profile graphics cards can be installed in HE2 cases, I wanted to ask you which hardware you recommend for this system. money does not matter ;)
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Hermann,
We don't have hardware recommendations for such setup since our tests are limited to up to 64 devices per client.
See our recommended client hardware through THIS link.
I just ran a brief test, to check the behavior when I open 165 devices in a single client instance, and performance isn't bad. BUT! There are no long term tests available, so no guarantees on the long term.
It might be just sometime that crashes after a while. And we do recommend to test it, before it is sold and deployed.Below a screenshot of the brief test. At the top of the screenshot the load on the (very lightweight) server application and the Stacer application shows the load on the client while displaying the 165 devices.
So if you want to take the plunge, I would go for an AMD9 / i9 CPU with 16 cores and 32 GB RAM. Typically, Ubuntu Linux is a bit more lightweight for the hardware and more stable opposed to Windows 10/11.
Please take all requirements into account as mentioned in the article I linked to.
Once deployed, please let us know, and we can change the maximum number of devices of 64 manually to the desired 120 devices. This would require TeamViewer access.

Hello Hermann,
Due to this demand, I would add a simple GPU as well, for dewarping on the fly, drawing animations, controls, and rendering UI elements in the client.
That being said, the short test above was done with solely the on-board GPU.

Hi Hermann,
My recommendation can be found in THIS support article. I wouldn't recommend using virtual machines for graphical interfaces.
If the customer wants a video wall with 4 monitors, no playback, I would recommend reaching out to mr. richard lince of Bluebox.video. They have custom hardware specifically designed for this purpose.
