Sending "caption" value from DW MegaPix IVA cameras
AnsweredHi all,
I have a DW Megapix camera, and I'd like to pass the IVA event {{name}} token to Spectrum for use with event rules.
I have tried just about every syntax combination in the HTTP notification settings in the camera. I can use the createEvent API function from a testing server to trigger a generic event in Spectrum just fine but cannot get this camera to cooperate.
I have a ticket open with DW but thought maybe someone over here has run across this before. Thanks for any advice you all might have!

Hi John Ferguson,
See THIS support article that describes the process you want to achieve.

Hi John,
If I knew I would tell you, but unfortunately, I don't know how, where, or even if you can setup the http events inside the DW cameras.
I would reach out to the DW support team and ask them how to set up HTTP events inside the device.
That being said, for what purpose do you wat the DW cameras to sent an HTTP request from the camera to our software? Most likely, there is no need to do it, since in our rules engine, we support camera input signals, analytics events, etc.

Thank you Norman! I have solved my issue, which was simply to have two directional line rules on one camera.
HTTP notifications coming from the camera were not needed. The IVA event name in my camera - "Cross IN" and "Cross OUT" for example, do not correspond to the "caption contains" field in Spectrum as I thought. They are seen by the "description contains" field.I am still curious how to get these cameras to properly produce an HTTP request which can be seen by Spectrum as a generic event, but I will pursue that with their CS dept. Thanks!
