Retrieve RTSP Stream Through NX Witness Cloud Portal
AnsweredWe are integrating the NX Witness and decided the best way to integrate is through the NX cloud if provides a single gateway into the customer system. Unfortunately it appears only HLS streams are available through this interface is this correct? Our video subsystem needs to receive a consume-able RTSP stream - is there anyway to do this?
Also if we decide to go directly to the individual Nx Servers to obtain RTSP streams it appears the RTSP streams are exposed directly through their internal network addresses making it impossible to expose a single endpoint per camera. Is there a way to get around this limitation?

Hello Timothy,
We are integrating the NX Witness and decided the best way to integrate is through the NX cloud if provides a single gateway into the customer system. At the moment it isn't possible to pull RTSP video over cloud connection. You can use Cloud Relay only for viewing HTTP progressive or HLS streams.
Also if we decide to go directly to the individual Nx Servers to obtain RTSP streams it appears the RTSP streams are exposed directly through their internal network addresses making it impossible to expose a single endpoint per camera. Is there a way to get around this limitation?
RTSP streams can be accessed with rtsp://server_ip:server:port/camera_id . If you have direct connection to server you should be able to retrieve rtsp streams. Could you please provide more details about the issue?

On this topic, is it possible get the RTSP stream locally from the server?
My cameras max out at 5 streams and some of them really struggle with streaming, it would be nice to leverage the exceptional performance of nX witness and grab the stream its sharing with all the nx witness clients.0 -
I’m also interested in retrieving the RTSP stream from the nx server for the same reason as Stewart. I cannot get a stream to open in VLC using
rtsp://server_ip:server:port/camera_id0 -
Hello gentlemen,
For opening streams in VLC, please, make sure the account you're using has the digest authentication schema enabled.

That was the issue. Thank you.
