NX Cloud Ubuntu Cloned NX Server disconnect/reconnect
AnsweredWhen trying to connect from NX Witness Client to NX Witness Servers added through a cloud account, they are sporadically showing 'unreachable'
We've deployed 4 NX Witness Server for Ubuntu, cloned from the same image where we have the server already configured as "prebuild-1". Part of our procedure is to rename the hostname/server name in Nxwitness/etc. These are at several locations with different network setups and they all seem to be running into this same problem.
As an example, when on the main screen, selecting a server to connect to, Device #4 will show online, approx. 5 seconds later it will show unreachable, then Device #3 will show online for 0.2 seconds then be unreachable, then Device #1 will show online for 5 seconds.
I have found this article related to cloning and have now worked out why I'm getting this issue: https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037429854-Using-Nx-Witness-in-a-virtual-environment
For step 3/4 of the Ubuntu instructions we haven't adjusted the serverGuid attribute so all 4 servers have the same Guid.
In an attempt to fix it I have tried a few methods:
- Take a backup in System Administration.
- Stop networkoptix-mediaserver service
- Edit /opt/network/optix/mediaserver/etc/mediaserver.conf to remove serverGuid and guidIsHwid lines.
- Start networkoptix-mediaserver service
- Connect to server from locally installed Nx Witness Client
- It wants to be setup as new server so I go through initial steps then go system administration > restore from backup.
- The server restores with cameras, it shows as disconnected with the red x, and can't connect to storage.
- If I connect to cloud with the temporary new server I make, it stays connected ok, has the storage connected, but doesnt have any camera config.
So it seems like the serverGuid is bound to the server config files, I'm hoping to not have to re-setup the entire server from scratch, is there a way to change the serverGuid without losing configuration?

Hi @...,
Unfortunately, step 3 and 4 are mandatory to make it work.
You could make a backup of the settings, execute step 3 and 4 and in case configuration is missing, you can restore the backup.0
