Body Cam / Wave-Nx software solution for specialty application
AnsweredWe need to add a bodycam to an existing Wave system. HANWHA has indicated this is not supported, but Nx documentation indicates that this IS possible within the software (but perhaps not within the WAVE version?).
Looking for confirmation and any examples of success that can be shared.

Hi Charles Baker,
You can easily integrate body cameras with our VMS (including Nx Witness, Wave, or any product Powered by Nx).
Depending on your setup, here are the most common ways to connect them:
- Virtual Cameras: Ideal for offline footage uploaded after a shift.
- RTSP Streams: Best for live streaming over 5G connections.
- On-Device Media Server: Some body camera models might be able to run the Media Server directly on the hardware.
Check out THIS sample video to see how it can works in action.
Best regards.

Thanks for the quick reply, and the good news!
That confirms the fundamental architecture we are considering.
Our use case is specifically the Virtual Camera / offline footage scenario.
The body-camera manufacturer's docking software will automatically place completed video files in a designated network storage location. We intend to develop a Windows service that monitors that location and automatically submits each new recording into the appropriate Virtual Camera in Hanwha WAVE.
Before we begin development, could you confirm one additional point:
Does Hanwha WAVE expose a supported API that allows our application to programmatically upload a completed video file into a Virtual Camera without operator intervention?
Ideally, we need the API to allow us to:
- Select the destination Virtual Camera.
- Upload the recording.
- Preserve or specify the original recording date/time.
- Determine whether the upload completed successfully.
- Run this process unattended as a continuous integration service.
If so, could you point us to the applicable API documentation or sample code?
We want to ensure our service uses the supported WAVE API rather than interacting directly with the WAVE archive filesystem.
Thank you,
Charles

Hi Charles Baker,
I noticed you submitted a similar request already and our developer support team will respond later.
To give you a starting point, please check our REST api, and the specifically the Virtual Devices section (
/rest/v4/devices/*/virtual).The API applies to Nx, Wave, and all other Powered by Nx versions.
Best regards.

Thanks for your help, Norman.
It looks like we have an excellent path forward for this solution and will be testing the APi within the next month or so.
The Nx team is great, and greatly apreciated.
