RTSPS stream from camera
Hello,
How to configure a more secure camera to server stream connection? I mean RTSPS or maybe an alternative. I am using Bosch NBE-5703-AL camera and I would still like to use Bosch Analytics plugin. Or can I only take RTSPS as a “general camera” stream and can't use the inbuilt analytics then?

Thanks for your questions, but it is not very clear to us. What is your issue here for the Bosch camera or the plugins?
Are you saying you want to change the configuration which the cameras with RTSPS-only enabled. (i.e. RTSP completely dropped?)

How to add the camera stream via RTSPS and still use the Bosch plugin? I have only managed to add the RTSPS stream manually through the “Add Devices” menu, but the stream was added as a “generic camera” and I could not use the analytics for this stream.
I am trying this because my client has asked to have “something more secure than plain RTSP from camera to server”.

The plugin is always bound to a specific manufacturer, so general RTPS (generic camera) will not be able to use the Bosch plugin, this is by design.
For RTSPS, there is no need to re-add or shortcut it via RTSPS stream, you may probably use the configuration for the site:
- Open Main Menu –> Site Administration (shortcut Ctrl+Alt+A).
- In the General tab, check the Encrypt video traffic checkbox.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Encrypting video traffic will significantly increase CPU and bandwidth usage because data packets must be encrypted by the server and decrypted by the client, and some third-party products may not support RTSPS and may therefore cause integration issues.
Please note this is a site-scope, not per-camera configuration. If you have other cameras on the site that don't support RTSPS, they will go offline as a result. This is expected behavior
On the plugin side, it should continue to work, as the manufacturer's API documentation does not mention any breaking changes or incompatibilities related to this.However, we can't predict how each individual camera will respond to this encryption configuration, also if any different implementation required. So verifying camera-level behavior after RTSPS is enabled is outside the plugin's scope at the moment.

Hello,
Thank you, it worked. The only problem is that the channel now goes offline each 15 seconds and the error is “Cannot connect to http port 80. Make sure the camera is plugged into the network. Try to reboot the camera.”

It is likely you may check with Bosch team if the RTSPS, and the ONVIF implementation may be valid, or there could be some advanced integration troubleshooting to your issue.
If you still have an issue, please contact the local distributor, then they will be responsible for the troubleshooting or ticketing while required.

Should the primary stream and secondary stream links change to “rtsps://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx….” in the camera settings in NX Witness when using RTSPS?

If you switch from RTSP to RTSPS after the camera has already been added, the value won't update on its own. It keeps whatever was recorded when the camera was first added.
That field is a record of the ONVIF negotiation result, so we don't edit it directly; it only refreshes if the camera is re-added. RTSPS is used at the transport level once you enable the encrypted connection option, regardless of what's displayed there.
So if you're on a secure connection it may show rtsps, but in your case it will most likely stay as rtsp for now. Is this something that matters for your use case? Happy to understand your case if the information is critical and cause significant issues.
