Playback Speed Behaviour Change in Nx Witness
AnsweredHi Team.
The following is from a customer, any feed back greatly appreciated.
Morning,
We have recently observed a change in playback behaviour within NX Witness.
Previously, when reviewing recorded footage at an increased speed (e.g., 4× or 8×), pausing the video and then resuming playback would automatically reset the playback speed to normal (1×).
In the current version, the playback speed persists after pausing. This means that if footage is being viewed at an accelerated speed, it will continue at that same speed upon resuming playback, rather than reverting to normal speed.
This change is impacting our review workflow, as it requires additional manual steps to reset playback speed each time footage is paused and resumed.
Could you please advise:
- Whether this behaviour is configurable within the system settings, or
- If there is a way to restore the previous functionality where playback speed resets to 1× after pause
If this is an intended design change, we would appreciate guidance on any recommended best practices or potential workarounds

This was an intended change in 6.1. It's documented in the changelog under, “improvements”.
It seems like this new update is not well liked. See this thread for other complaints- https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/37933595203735
I'm hoping Norman or someone on the Network Optix team can provide an update if the developers intend to revert the change back or give the end user the option to configure how the playback functions work.

This behavior is terrible for our operators. Please add the ability to revert it.
