Camera ID in SMTP email notification
AnsweredWe have upgraded from 6.0.6.41837 to 6.1.0.42176
Now the emails we send to the NOC for monitoring do not contain the camera ID so all of our notifications are failing
Is there something we need to do to get these back?
TIA

Looking more closely and comparing an old email with one from the new firmware they look very similar so it might not be what the NOC are reporting.
From what I can make out the NOC use software from a company called ‘Monitor Computer Systems’ that can ONLY work from receiving an email (why no HTTPS?)
I guess the format of the email has changed enough to break their system?

Thank you for your post.
The issue likely has to do with the “Monitor Computer Systems” software that you mentioned the NOC team is using. The software may only accept emails (instead of HTTPS which we could in theory have done as well from our end through an event rule of some kind) which may be why it's set up that way.
Regarding why it stopped working, it sounds like a parsing issue. Most likely they have a specific format that they are looking for (think XML stylesheet for a similar reference) and the information just isn't in the same spots it was before. The easiest fix for something like this could just be to reconfigure how the monitoring software parses the data from the emails to matchup with the new format that the info is being provided via the emails.
Because the issue is with a third party monitoring software and not the VMS system itself, it's unlikely we would be able to do anything that would change how things are sent from our end so long as the information is still present in the email that you expect to pull.
