Client app on the Apple M1 macbook

I was wondering, if the mac client app is going to run okay on the new Apple Silicon M1 macbook pro?

Has anyone tested this?

Are there any compatibility issues?

    Hi - I just picked up my new MacBook Air M1 but sadly, will not be able to find time to get it setup before the weekend.  I will let you know how it goes (using the Digital Watchdog version - 4.0.0.29990).

    Hi Stanislav and Norman,

    OK - it only took an hour... I booted up my new MacBook Air M1 and transferred apps and setup from my old Intel MacBook Air (2015).  On Windoze, which I am more familiar with, initial setup of a device can take a day.

    Clicked on DW Spectrum and it said that I had to install Rosetta (the x86 to M1 ARM layer) - that took 30 seconds.

    Then launched DW Spectrum again and it worked fine!  I only have 4 cameras on my default layout.  But so far so good!

    Hi @...,

    You're the best. 

    I got feedback from our dev team that issues are expected with the in-client web browser since the version of Chromium we use isn't fully supported by Rosetta. We will try to resolve this in version 4.3.

    Hi Norman,

    No problem Norman - I'm happy to help - I have more to report - mainly a bit more from my experience on the migration.

    First, I concur with your dev team - after pulling up an "in-client web browser" it worked for bit then I had to Force Quit the "DW Spectrum GUI (in my case).  Lucky for me, I do not use that feature.

    One additional item to share about my migration experience.

    Sometime after migrating my apps/data/config from my old Macbook (x86) to the new M1 based one - Chrome self-updated from this: 

    to this:

    Chrome is now running native on the M1 chip without Rosetta layer.  Awesome!

    Since there is a thread about this, 

     

    Anyone know why Spectrum looks like this on the landing page?  I migrated to a new Macbook Pro M1 with Rosetta and I cant tell which system I am logging into.

    Maybe it has to do with the Version I am running.  I'll see if downgrading works.  If not, I'll open a ticket and see if they can take a look for whatever it is that I am missing.

    Hi Terence,

    Since it is really early days for the M1 chips, we are in the process of checking the implication to our software. 
    Currently, there is no release date scheduled and I do not expect a native client on the short term since it is a major task to set up a development and testing environment after the inventory has been done.
